Transforming Organizations by Operationalizing Racial Justice
Fall Workshop Series

Description

MP Associates Consulting is pleased to announce its six-part workshop series focused on the publication, Transforming Organizations by Operationalizing Racial Justice. Designed specifically for external consultants whose work focuses on integrating racial equity and justice within organizational systems and practices.

The focus of this series* is to create and sustain a learning community for external consultants focusing their work on operationalizing racial equity and justice in organizations.  Together, we will sharpen our analysis of change processes; explore roles, values, and approaches of external consultants; and deepen our understanding of organizational transformation and our client-partner relationships. This is not a “how-to” series.  Instead, it offers space for a community of practice to examine the complex dynamics of organizational change, and share practices, ideas, and lessons to stay adaptive, responsive, and relationship-centered, especially amid the current threats to racial equity and the range of ways organizations are responding.

The series is limited to up to 14 external consultants engaged in racial equity, justice, and DEIJ-related organizational change efforts.

Apply to participate in the Transforming Organization workshop series by July 22nd.

FOCUS OF EACH SESSION
  1. Grounding: Building a learning community, exploring being an external consultant,  discussing the change process, and sharing an overview of the series structure.
  2. Creating the Foundation: Preparing for change, building internal will, and working with internal teams (Staff, Senior Leadership & Board)
  3. Developing Internal Practices: Centering relationships, addressing conflict and trauma, & developing accountability practices
  4. Conducting Organizational Assessment: Approaches before, during, and after the assessment process
  5. Deepening the Work: Distilling the change process and discussing the action planning and process.
  6. Deepening Our Work: Sustaining the change over time.  Participants will help shape the final session by identifying topics for deeper exploration.

Approximately six months after the final session, a 90-minute group check-in will be organized and facilitated to reflect on and discuss current issues.

*The 2.5-hour session time frame shapes the depth for each topic area.

Outline for each Session

  • Grounding our work together as a learning community & sharing a brief presentation to introduce key session topics.
  • Discussing with peers in a learning lab - small, mixed groups that explore questions and issues drawn from participants’ survey responses to deepen reflection and practice.
  • Reflecting on our individual role as an external consultant within the change processes.

Throughout the series there will be four surveys to complete. Participants are asked to share their specific questions, challenges, and emerging issues. Participant responses will shape the session’s design and small group discussions.
