Co-Convener and member, White Privilege Facilitation Praxis group. Convene seasoned facilitators, whose work is directly focused on addressing structural racism and white privilege, to share and explore ideas to deepen our collective knowledge and effectiveness of our work. Leadership Team member and co-chair, Basebuilding workgroup for Showing up for Racial Justice (SURJ) - SURJ is a national network of groups and individuals organizing white people for racial justice. Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ moves white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability. We work to connect people across the country while supporting and collaborating with local and national racial justice organizing efforts. SURJ provides a space to build relationships, skills, and political analysis to act for change. 2012-2014.

Member of the Leadership Team and co-chair of the Governance Workgroup with Jeanné Isler of Within Our Lifetime, a racial equity and racial healing national network, who are committed to ending the impact of racism in our lifetime.
Our vision to dismantle racism in our lifetime will be bolstered when we innovate and experiment, work interdependently, and share a creative and tenacious message for racial healing and equity, grounded in a belief that everyone’s human rights must be recognized. Emeritus Member of the Baltimore Racial Justice Action (BRJA) Advisory team and past member of White Anti-Racism network (WARN) of BRJA. Baltimore Racial Justice Action is an action-based network grounded in collective analysis of structural racism and white privilege.

Work Experience
Senior Program Associate, Network of Alliances Bridging Race and Ethnicity, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies 2000-2003
Served on staff team which developed the infrastructure of the Network of Alliances Bridging Race and Ethnicity (NABRE), a network of 180+ race relations and racial justice organizations. Included: developing program strategy and organizational processes, implementing research projects, supporting the advisory group and committees and creating an internal structure for an online technology program.
Established partnerships with nine organizations in five states to coordinate a regional conference for 200 participants representing race relations and racial justice organizations in the upper Midwest at the University of Minnesota, which led to development of a regional network.
Wrote Holding up the Mirror: Working Interdependently for Just and Inclusive Communities. This research details a national forum for 18 organizations, representing distinct race relations and racial justice approaches, who met to learn more about each other’s work and to explore how to work collaboratively on community issues. The publication describes the spectrum of approaches and organized them in three broad clusters (based on Ilana Shapiro’s research). One of the recommendations from the meeting was to replicate the forum process on a community level to explore in greater depth the barriers to and opportunities for local organizations to work together.
Wrote Cultivating Interdependence: A Guide for Race Relations and Racial Justice Organization. This research was based on a pilot workshop facilitated in four communities (Santa Barbara, CA; St. Paul, MN; Knoxville, TN [region]; and Boston, MA) and partnering with Philanthropic Initiative for Racial Equity. The publication includes: the workshop process and design, updated spectrum of approaches and clusters, lessons learned and next steps.
Director of the Dismantling Racism Program, National Conference for Community Justice (NCCJ), St. Louis, MO, 1995-1999
Recruit and support a network of more than 180 facilitators, consultants, educators, and community leaders committed to dismantling racism in St. Louis, MO who are alumni of the Dismantling Racism Institute. Participants signed on to provide 20 hours of service to NCCJ each year for two year period in exchange for consultation and in-service sessions. Provided coaching, in-service training and technical assistance.
Co-developed the corporate diversity network in St. Louis MO, which included alumni from the Dismantling Racism Institute, providing support, technical assistance, and educational sessions.
